Message done extensive R&D on the production and upgrades of his auto transmissions. He also has a number of customers (as well as his own Zs) who have been running them (both DD and racing) for some time now. I don't know what your planned use of the car is or how much power you plan on making, but I believe you can get SpecialtyZ trannies at various levels of upgrades. The Precision Industries converter is also excellent, you can choose your stall and get one free stall change within the first year. They also install stacked clutches in the converter lock-up, so you can engage the lock-up in second gear if you plan on racing it. The flexplate on the stock TT is subject to breaking when you up the power, so the SFI approved upgrade can save you some $$ in the long run. I don't think you broke your converter, probably something in the trans itself. They can burn up, but it's not common. If you plan on drag racing it, the upgrade will allow for better 60' times, faster shifts, be safe, and last longer than a stock rebuild. In fact, if you exceed the power that a stock trans can handle, you can burn the clutch material right off the bat. That's my .02$ and I'm sticking to it. Take care, Mark
